sonic slushies

I dont know about you but I love sonic slushies! they are so good. i could drink one everyday for the rest of my life and not get tired of them. and its so cool how you can get them half off during happy hour. what a great idea. whoever started this phenomenon is a genuis in my book

I live in a garage

So I live in a garage. I know that sounds weird but I actually love it a lot. It definitely gets hot from time to time but I really just like the simplicity of it. It makes me realize that I dont need a lot of posters or a big closet and a TV to have a satisfying room. It has really taught me a lesson...and its cheap

I stubbed my toe

As I am sitting here trying to finish these blogs, I got up to get a drink of water and stubbed my toe! I hate stubbing my toes. It hurts so bad. I feel like I just dropped a 25 pound weight on it. OUCH! This is probably the worst pain I have felt since last night when I banged my knee on the coffee table. This sucks...

My friend Heather

I have a friend named Heather. She is so cool. She is in this class and I told her I would dedicate a blog to her. So Heather thanks for all the great times and the awesome friendship!

ps- if you still got swipes we should get dinner tonight

Exspensive dog

So my roommates dog just ate three of his favorite video games. Before that he chewed up a DVD. Last month the dog ate his Oakleys. Before that he ate my rainbow sandals! This is an expensive dog! Maybe we shouldn't leave thing just lying around though. That might help

Mavericks

Im a Mavs fan. The last two games have been a big disappointment. At least they are coming home now and will play better. Hopefully Josh Howard we be healthy by Saturday

Almost there

I cant wait to be finished with this assignment. I am almost there! I just got to keep going

Scam!

There are not a lot of things that irritate me but there is one in particular that really gets under my skin. Meal plans. This system were every student on campus has to buy at least 100 meals before the semester even starts is horrible. For the past 4 years, I have seen it time and time again where hundreds of meals and thousands of dollars go unused because of this system. The school even closes early during finals week to make sure that students dont try to use up all their swipes. The Food Services on campus have done a great job in manipulating the rules to where stealing is considered legal. I hate it. I encouraged everybody who has meal plans left to use them up...and fast. Dont wait til the last minute because the dining will close early leaving you empty handed.

ps-if you have entirely to many to use up before school is out...i wouldn't mind giving you a helping hand : )

...

“Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present you need to live the question. Perhaps you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day.”

~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Are you having one of those days?

Are you having one of those days that just seem too much? Well if you are just remember...

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife

I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

This always gets me through my day. I hope you have a good one

piglet flu

What the big deal about this piglet flu. I haven't even seen a pig in the past 5 years much less gotten a disease from one. And I mean even if someone did get infected wouldn't the pink ears and the springy tail be a clear sign that they should go to the doctor instead of rolling around in their own filth. I just don't get it. How has our country become so weak that we are scared of a few piglets running around with diarrhea? It's just silly. Maybe we should all just take a chill pill and realize that this is America. Home of the brave. A fifty state power house of wealth and fame. Where all your dreams will come true. blahblahblah...jk...seriously though...just wash your hands

Ulitmate

So the Texas State Frisbee team did not advance to Nationals. Out of the 40 teams trying to advance only two teams are eligible. We got 3rd place. Texas University took 1st place and the last game was between Kansas University and Texas State University. It was a hard fought game but in the end we lost 15-12. A lot of our players are seniors so it was really sad to go out with a loss but the team did the best we could and just came up a bit short. Next year though is looking very promising as we plan to keep getting better and hopefully have enough to push out on top.

The Office

So i really like the TV show The Office. I have been following it since the very beginning and it still makes me laugh. I used to buy all the episodes on itunes but they raised the price really high so now I just wait and buy the seasons on DVD. I wish Dunder Mifflin was a real office because I would totally go visit it. That place is awesome.

Speech

I am in Comm 1310. I just gave my speech last Friday. I don't know what is about giving a speech that makes me so nervous. I am a kind of person that doesn't usually get very nervous in front of people, but last Friday I was shaking in my boots. Ive been able to talk in front of many people before, but when it came down to my speech I just freaked out. Maybe I didnt practice enough or maybe it was the formality of the speech. Whatever it is though I need to figure it out because I have one more really soon.

Texas State Ultimate

So i really need to catch up on theses blogs so I'm gonna just start writing random stuff. Last weekend the Texas State Ultimate Disc team traveled to College Station to play a tournament to determine the best teams in Texas. We placed 3rd in that tournament and advanced to the Regional competition. On April 25 and 26 our team will travel to Little Rock, Arkansas to try to place 2nd and advance to the National competition. Texas State has never been to the finals and is looking forward to the upcoming weekends.

Dang you Bill Clinton!

One time in fourth grade my elementary school took a mock vote of the 1996 presidential election. At the end of the day the results were announced over the intercom. Astonishingly, everybody in the entire school voted for Bob Dole with the exception of one girl who voted for Bill Clinton. Ironically, this girl happen to have an anger problem and it just so happen that she was sitting next to me. When this girl heard the results she got all pissed off and decided to stab me with her freshly sharpened pencil! Fortunately for her, it hurt really bad so I didn't get a chance to punch her right in the face. To this day the lead is still visible inside my hand where she stabbed me. I have hated Bill Clinton ever since.

Don't be an idiot!

I am pretty sure that when I was in eighth grade me and my buddy Matt were the dumbest band geeks on the entire earth. One day Matt and I were goofing off in the band hall after school and we got this brilliant idea to see if one of us could fit inside a tuba case. So of course I climbed in. Once I was inside the tuba case Matt got this bone-headed idea to latch the hinges just to make sure the case fully closed. After a couple of seconds of being inside the tuba case, I decided that I was fully satisfied with the experiment and tapped on the roof letting Matt know to let me out. I began to hear Matt fumbling with the latch and after awhile he exclaimed that it was jammed and he couldn't get it unstuck. Now I am starting to freak out a little bit as my claustrophobia sets in, and I begin to get really uneasy by squirming and pleading with Matt to get the case open. After awhile I am crying uncontrollably because my eighth grade rationale tells me that I am going to suffocate and die in a tuba case. I keep yelling for Matt to get it open but he wasn't even there anymore. By this time I have convinced myself that I was losing oxygen and that Matt had abandoned me. Luckily he didn't abandoned me and went to get a teacher who ended up freeing me from my casket. I am still very appreciative to this day and learned one valuable lesson from this experience...Don't be an idiot!

Hey look what I found!

One time when I was about 15 months old I became extremely bored with my life in a cage, or better know as a crib. Me and my twin sister shared a room in the house together and her crib was directly across the room from mine. As I was chillin in my crib I discovered something absolutely amazing! This was the biggest finding since the booger era. It had such a unique texture and just seemed perfect for throwing. I was so ecstatic with this new phenomenon that and decided to divvy up my sharings with sister. I began flinging the goods across the room, effortlessly hitting my target with ease. My parents eventually came into the room and so I decided to include them too. Needless to say they were not very happy with my new game and ended the fun quickly. I guess the old saying is true that, "It's all fun and games until someone gets pooped on".

Lightning Struck?

I decided for the next couple of blogs I am going to tell short stories about my life. I feel like this will be more entertaining for me and the reader.

One time when I was about 12 years old I was supposedly struck by lightning. I was at my house in Lorena, Texas with my dad and two dogs. My dad was on the couch reading the newspaper and I was playing on the computer when a huge thunderstorm hit. Now me and my dad just the week before had built our dogs a new doghouse to stay in; however, the dogs were not familiar with the house yet and were not aware that in the event of a storm that would be the best place to seek shelter. So for about thirty minutes my dogs were in a panic trying to find a good place to keep dry, but unfortunately they ended up soaking wet and shivering in a corner of the porch. Once the storm had seemingly past I took it upon myself to show the dogs how to use their new house. The doghouse was about 35 feet away from the house in the backyard underneath a fully grown oak tree. Once I was about 10 feet from the doghouse, beneath the tree, all I remember was seeing a flash of white light. Next thing I know I am on my couch and my dad is trying to wake me up. My clothes smelt burnt and it took me awhile to regain my full conscience.

It is still hard for me to comprehend what happened that day and I am just thankful that I am alive today.

simply nonsense

So to be honest...I hate blogging. I think I have a very solid argument of how blogging is single-handedly destroying my life and the rest of this world as we know it today. Okay, maybe that is a little too extreme; nonetheless, I feel like this assignment is nothing more than a load of horse do-do. The obligation to "freely" write about ones life doesn't even make sense to me. I have enough on my plate already and I don't need a pointless assignment to stress me out even more. Furthermore, I also don't see the point in me reading about somebody else's life knowing that they are only writing because they have to. Even right now I am thinking of what else I should write in this blog when I could be doing something much more productive and worthwhile with this time. I guess to put in plain terms this homework is just nonsense...simply nonsense

Sugar Rush

For the past two years I have been working at an after school program from 2:30pm to 6:30pm every Monday through Friday. I have a group of thirteen 3rd graders that I take care of throughout the day. I really love my job and enjoy the kids in my group. Yesterday however, was a Friday accompanied with the added excitement of the day before Valentines Day...aka the worst day of the year. It was absolutely crazy. I dont think the kids did anything but intake as much sugar as possible during the entire school day. Once that bell rang at 2:30pm my life was absolute chaos. The kids rushed into the room with little regard for authority. All the kids were tearing through their pixie sticks and fun dip as if it were the last thing they would eat. Luckily every sugar rush has a crash and that is exactly what happened. About 4:00 o'clock pm all the kids began to complain about their stomachs aching and all I did was say, "I told you so". I also used this time to teach my group about the rapidly increasing obesity and cavities rates in America. Needless to say, they did not care. All in all I love hanging out with these kids everyday and hopefully having a positive influence in their lives.

Financial Progess

So for the last 3 years of my life I have been pretty irresponsible with my finances. I came into college with really no awareness of how to manage mine or anyone else's money. Many times I would thrive on recklessly squandering countless sums of money without conviction. This past year however, my viewpoint was shifted. Just recently I came across a moving presentation that totally reversed any thoughts I ever had regarding my funds. The man promoting his ideas had a very clear and powerful message. Not only did the speaker uncover the disappointing truth about societies finances, but he went on to suggest a well thought out plan to fixing this problem. I am now two months into this new outlook and I can honestly say that I am very satisfied with the results in my check book as well as my conscience. I just hope I can keep up the discipline and maturity that is required with this change.

Injury Plagued

Over my 21 years in life I have suffered many injuries. I love to play sports and this consistent theme in my life is proving to be a tiresome reality. Ever since junior high my injuries have kept me off the field, lowering my hearts desire to remain an active athlete. As of today I am a senior on the Texas State Ultimate Frisbee Team. This is our best season in school history, and our team has been named the favorites to represent the state of Texas at the National competition. Yesterday though, the inevitable happened. I was running through a routine drill and out of nowhere my hamstring just simply snapped. Right now I do not know the severity of the injury but history tells me that this is not good. With only a few months left til the big games, I may end up watching from the sidelines once again. It seems as though I can count this as another devastating loss in my sporting career. But now lets focus on the positive. I guess if there is one good thing that come out of these plagues, let it be this. Adversity does not hold supremacy over a person; adversity merely introduces a person to who they truly are.

two days difference

The first of two days looked somewhat like this. I woke up around 1:00 in the afternoon and had a bowl of cereal. I turned on the xbox 360 and started playing a video game. I played this game nonstop for at least 9 straight hours, pausing only for restroom breaks and to cook a pizza. Once I had finished playing my game I decided to eat another bowl of cereal and watch sports. As I was sitting on the couch I started to realize just how lame my day really had become. I am a big fan of sleeping in and playing a lot of video games but for some reason this day had a sour feeling. I decided right then that my next day was going to look different, hopefully finding more satisfaction in it.

Once again I here my alarm, except this time it was set for 8:00am instead of 1:00pm. I woke up, hopped into the shower and began to plan my day. I did not have a car so i figured my roommates bike would have to do. I started off by riding to Grins, a restaurant in San Marcos. I visited a friend working there, had a bowl of soup, and then was on my way. Next, I stopped by a local coffee shop and decided to sit down and read a little bit of the book I had brought with me. As I was reading I became side tracked by the family sitting near me. It was a family of four, two parents, a son, and a daughter who apparently had a slight mental retardation. Is was really a privilege to watch how this family interacted with each other. They all were very kind to each other and had this indescribable connection between them. I left there smiling. As I was riding away I decided to go to Walmart. On the way there I had to stop at a traffic light where an old lady caught my attention. She waved me over so not know what to expect I moved towards her. When I got to her I noticed a small bucket she was holding, apparently for a fundraiser. It turned out that her and I had a lot in common and talked for a maybe a good fifteen minutes. I again walked away smiling.

As I look back on these two days I a noticed a simple difference between the two; I found a tremendous amount of satisfaction out of the second day but did not in the first. Before hand I would have guessed the opposite because the first day just sounds like more fun. I guess it is true though that humans are social creatures and find more satisfaction in community than in solitude. This was good a reminder

Adulthood

I just left my English 1320 class. The topic of discussion today was surrounded by the question, "When do we leave our adolescent stage and enter into adulthood"? This question led to many different opinions from my classmates. Some said that a single experience such as a birthday or an educational graduation would provoke this transformation. Others mentioned this change could stem from becoming more independent; having to accept the responsibilities that require a higher level of maturity. A well paying job or living on your own were examples of this.

As the class progressed I began to wander into my life, thinking upon the people who meet my personal criteria of what an “adult” looks like. Growing up, my standard for an adult was someone who could legally drive a car or pay the utility bills. A few years in college though has totally changed my perspective. I do believe that becoming independent and having a good work ethic does help achieve a higher level of maturity, but is that all that separates adults from adolescent? As I was filtering through these people in my life I started thinking of the experiences they had endured, and lets face it, everybody has to endure what life brings at some point in time. To my own surprise though I do not feel like it is the circumstance or the outcome of a situation that determines who a person is. I think it is how we as people respond to life, either making the choice that is best for our personal interest or choosing what is best for the situation at hand. In those decisions, regardless of the outcome, proves to me a person who is deserving of the title adult or not. I think true adulthood is earned not through an elaborate resume, but through the respect of others.

Dallas Cowboys

I am a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. I am very upset with this year’s outcome. After losing to a surprising New York Giants team in the first playoff game in the 07-08 season; it seemed almost certain that the Cowboys would be a dominant force the ensuing season. On paper the Dallas Cowboys were supposed to be the best team in the NFL; however, it takes more than a few statistics to win a World Championship. At the very beginning, the Dallas Cowboys proved their worth; beating several teams as if it were a rehearsal. But, little did they know the adversity that inevitably lied in the games ahead. On October 12, 2008, the Cowboys traveled to face the Arizona Cardinals; a team who apparently had something to prove. The game was an ugly mess. The prideful and overly confident Cowboys were handed a devastating loss that would haunt them the rest of the season.
